Where is God?

In Eternity, or Heaven, some might say.

What about inside myself?

Nothing can exist without God so, it would not be inaccurate to say God is            “inside” of everything, us too.

But if you mean that God is inside us the same way He wants us inside Him, then no, He is not inside us.

Our awareness of Him is inside us.

His awareness of us is outside of us.

We are aware of the Consciousness of God but that awareness is not itself God. God is separate from our consciousness.

AA says to “improve my conscious contact with God.”

The Bible says God is in “Heaven.”

Many say God was in the man Jesus of Nazareth.

The only thing that seems certain is that God is separate from us, from you.

You are not God and He is not you. You are separate from God. (Why and how are open questions but answering them doesn’t change the situation.)

We are here to work with God in creating the Universe. The physical Universe. God supplies the energy, so without God there would be no Universe.  But, we supply the form(s) the energy takes on. (lots of quantum physics goes in here, but the current view is that the electron takes is form based on our observations of it…and goes on for an hour like that.) Physicists say that the physical objects we see, feel, touch, smell and eat are pretty much not really there at all, in the physical sense.   So, whatever you are experiencing (calling life or being alive or life, etc.) is being created as an interaction between you and God. You playing a very small role in many creations (like gravity, for example) but major roles in things like the organs in your body. Or the mental state you use most.   Or the car you drive. Or the bed you sleep in and on and on and on to the thoughts you are thinking right now.  Whatever that is you and God are making it happen as a team.  The team stays together until the human player dies. At which point the individual human personality ceases to exist.  The energy which made the whole thing happen, God, continues on in Now and the energy it lent the human consciousness returns to the Father from whence it came.

So where is God, again?

In Eternity.  Or Infinity, perhaps is a better word.

I used to think of those words meaning a very very long time, or all time, or something like that.  I’ve come to believe that infinity and eternity are in no time. God only knows Now. There is no such thing as past or future in Eternityor for God .  Only Now.  Now is when the creation happens.  Not yesterday or twenty-five years ago or a billion years ago or a trillion years from today. The universe I am experiencing is being created the instant my fingers start to move towards the keys typing these words.  Meditation and prayer and steps and psychoanalysis and drugs and alcohol and religion are all ways we can use to aid us in our end of the partnership, the physical stuff. (I know, all those things can be used to kill us, too. And, don’t start thinking about changing the physical shapes of anything, just yet. There are lots of physics and deep psycho-bullshit goes in here, but it ends up with taking a terrible amount of energy to maintain what we already are doing…staying alive…and a lot of training (belief, faith, magic, force)  to make things actually physically change. (The Jesus of Nazareth history is one example and the Castaneda autobiography is another.)  To make it short, the physical reality you are experiencing is the result of your presence (and separation) from God. That separate tiny piece from God interacting with God.  It’s like a dance. (I like to imagine it more like an intricate vibration dancing.) God throws a tiny bit of Himself out and dances with it for a splendid instant.  That splendid instant is our life.  What we make of it, how it looks and feels, is up to us. After all, we’re creating that part of it.  God’s the light bulb and we make the film. (yea, I know who’s the projector?  Those would be the rules of the relationship which the Jews seem to have the oldest and best text describing the nature of, but there are many others from which to choose.  Most all of them agree the closer we attain a consciousness of God,  the closer we come to Now, Heaven, Eternity, the closer we come to the moment of creation.  Now is always in our “past” as a memory of something. We can’t, or at least it requires enormous energy to do it (more quantum stuff about relativity, E=MC2, etc) approach the actual moment of creation, but it requires very small amounts of energy to get very far from it.

So the point is to spend more time actually trying to experience Now.  To try to stay close as you can to the vibrating power of the Almighty. He’s directly in front of you the very instant light reflecting off this page strikes the retina cells on the rear of your eyeballs. This is true for every moment of your life.

God only judges those He knows.  Those He does not know don’t know Him and perish without knowing Him.  God weeps for those whom He has never known.

Now is where God is.

Satan is in the Future.

And, I am in the past.
